Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups/spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 deep-dish pie crust store-bought or homemade
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage mild or spicy
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • 1️⃣ Preheat Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place the pie crust in a greased 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  • 2️⃣ Cook Sausage
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  • 3️⃣ Mix Egg Mixture
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined.
  • 4️⃣ Assemble the Pie
  • Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the pie crust. Sprinkle the Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese on top. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese.
  • 5️⃣ Bake to Perfection
  • Place in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted in the center should come out clean.
  • 6️⃣ Cool & Serve
  • Let the pie rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm!
  • Storage Options
  • Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat slices in the microwave or oven.
  • Freezer: Wrap individual slices in plastic wrap and store in a freezer bag for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Notes

Want more flavor? Add chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach.
• For a crustless version, skip the pie crust and bake directly in a greased dish.
• Swap out Monterey Jack for pepper jack cheese for a spicier kick!
