Garlic Steak and Potato Foil Packs

Garlic Steak and Potato Foil Packs are a delicious all-in-one meal made with juicy steak, tender potatoes, and rich garlic butter. Cooked in foil, they’re flavorful, mess-free, and easy to make whether on the grill, in the oven, or over a campfire.

Equipment

  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Tongs
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Grill, campfire, or oven

Ingredients

  • pounds sirloin steak cut into 1-inch cubes
  • pounds baby potatoes halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the steak cubes, potatoes, olive oil, melted butter, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Cut four large pieces of heavy-duty foil (about 12x18 inches each).
  • Divide the steak and potato mixture evenly among the foil sheets, placing them in the center of each.
  • Fold the foil over the ingredients and seal the edges tightly to form packets.
  • Place the foil packs on the grill or in the oven and cook for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Carefully open one packet to check for doneness. The steak should be tender, and the potatoes should be fork-tender and lightly browned.
  • Remove from heat, open the packets carefully (watch for steam), and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For best results, use sirloin or ribeye steak for maximum tenderness.
Do not overcrowd the foil packs — this ensures even cooking.
You can cook the foil packs directly on campfire coals for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
