Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Serving bowl or trifle dish

Ingredients

  • For the Cream Base:
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • cups cold milk
  • 1 container 8 oz whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Fruit:
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh pineapple chunks
  • 2 cups red grapes halved
  • 2 cups green grapes halved
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 bananas sliced (add just before serving)
  • Optional Garnish:
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
  • Fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  • Prepare the cream base: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add sweetener: Gradually add powdered sugar to the cream cheese, beating until well combined and smooth.
  • Make pudding mixture: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  • Combine mixtures: Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese mixture along with vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and well combined.
  • Fold in whipped topping: Gently fold in the whipped topping using a rubber spatula until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Prepare fruits: Wash and prepare all fruits. Hull and slice strawberries, cut pineapple into chunks, halve grapes, and rinse blueberries.
  • Combine: In a large serving bowl, gently fold the prepared fruits (except bananas) into the cream mixture until evenly coated.
  • Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  • Final touches: Just before serving, add sliced bananas and gently fold in. Garnish with chopped nuts, coconut, or fresh mint if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for easier mixing and smoother texture
Don't overmix the whipped topping to maintain the light, airy consistency
Pat fruits dry with paper towels to prevent excess moisture
For best results, use fresh fruits rather than canned when possible
The salad tastes best when served within 24 hours of preparation
